Standard presentation
A model for security and public safety in Telebiometrics. In this section, a model is presented to assist in the standardisation of the telecommunication domain referred to as "telebiometry". Already, and increasingly in the future, many different kinds of biometric devices will be using protocols to exchange new types of data, using Telecommunication Services (TS). Telebiometric data is recorded by a measurement instrument recording some bio-phenomenon. Many biological parameters can be used with an excellent score in their uniqueness (few or no individuals with the same parameter values).
Standard objectives. The standard main goal is to define a Telebiometric model for security issues referred to as:
Privacy
Authentication
Ecological liability
We need a precise structure to define the threshold values relative to these three liabilities in an exhaustive manner.
Structure introduction
In order to be exhaustive in describing the telebiometric interactions, the standard takes into account 3 different parameters:
What scientific layer is involved
What S.I. unit is involved
What modality is involved
Whatever the telebiometrical interaction considered, it can be classified for each of these fields. The standard defines a 4 digits number for every combination possible. This way, every type of interaction is going to be associated with a 4digits number, then the standard defines the threshold values associated with this interaction (and this number), relying on the data provided by international experts and authorities in the domain considered.
This standard still being at the recommendation / draft status, we are now working on getting these threshold values from these authorities. You will now get a presentation of how the 4 digits number is built and what the three parameters above correspond to.
Scientific layers
It is commonly admitted that there are five different scientific layers in which an interaction can be classified:
The first digit of the identification number refers to the scientific field considered, 1 standing for physics, 2 for chemistry, 3 for biology, 4 for cultural and social layers, and 5 for psychology layer.
S.I. Units
The 2 next digits in the identification number refer to the S.I. unit used for defining the threshold value. There are 32 standard base and derived units recognized by the S.I. system, every one of them being associated with a physical quantity and a two digits number as shown below:
Modality
There are 4 two-way perceptual modalities used to classify what kind of biometric signals and what type of measurements are going to be opted for by users. The video modality is associated with the sight sense, the audio modality with the hear sense, the tango modality with the touch sense, and the chemo modality with the chemical senses. Each modality can be considered as a way for input (IN) or output (OUT), and is associated with a number that makes the 4th digit of our identification code.

Example
Here is an example of how to read the identification number:

So number 1567 would be associated with threshold values for the magnetic flux density a human body can be exposed to on the physical layer and chemo in modality.
We are now working to get all the threshold values from the different authorities and experts for every number combination. Later on, there may be a need for more subdivisions, like for example gesture, posture, and demeanour are all subsets of Video OUT.
